Hero: First Responders & Everyday Saviors

Sometimes we don’t have the words, but we MUST recognize the people who are good and kind in the world. Jonathan Smith saved many lives in Las Vegas on Sunday, and was saved in turn by an off-duty police officer. We are thankful and lucky to have local heroes and trained professionals, and offer this short post as a tribute to every single act of bravery, compassion, and kindness—seen and unseen—that is the only bright light in a tragedy.

Zero: The NRA.

The NRA decided to delay their ads supporting GOP candidate for Governor Ed Gillespie. For a week. Because that’s apparently enough time to let families grieve before they continue their unabashed advocacy for weapons of mass destruction. Don’t think guns are weapons of mass destruction? In Vegas on Sunday, 59 people were killed and more than 500 injured in the deadliest mass shooting this country has seen.

Following their week of silence, the NRA plans to spend more than $750,000 on advertisements in the Virginia electionFind out what these Virginia candidates did to earn the NRA’s highest rating
