Hero: Spiderman in Houston

There’s terrible, terrible devastation in Houston this week. There’s also overwhelming compassion and humanity. Volunteers have come from across the state to help families muck out their homes, with rescuers treading through floods and rain to help their neighbors.

There’s also Spiderman, who has been bringing joy to the kids (and parents) at the Houston Convention Center. Watch this without tearing up, I dare you.

If you want to help Houston get back on its feet, here are some local organizations to support from our friends at Progress Texas.

Zero: GOP continues attack on immigrants

This week in Virginia, it’s pretty clear who the zero is. The Virginia Republican party. The GOP can’t seem to see immigrants as people.

Ed Gillespie released this ad:

Then the GOP turned their attention to to House of Delegates candidates with divisive and fear-mongering attacks on immigrant and Latino communities.  Virginia Republicans are spending thousands of dollars to launch false and divisive attacks that scapegoat immigrant communities.

For a party that wants to win an election, they sure do seem to go around threatening and insulting voters quite a lot.
