Hero: Senator Mamie Locke
Just watch this and tell me you disagree. Senator Mamie Locke is a grade A badass and a champion for women.
Zero: Senator Amanda Chase
Senator Amanda Chase continues to support TRAP laws, restrictions on abortion, and the limitation of women’s rights. We’re sick of it.
In the Senate Education and Health Committee this week, Senator Amanda Chase misgendered the Virginia Board of Health Commissioner, Dr. Marissa Levine, referring to Dr. Levine as “him.” If only that was the worst offense.
During the debate on SB292 (which would have allowed low income women to access abortion in the case of rape or incest without having to file a report to law enforcement) Senator Chase suggested that men who impregnate a woman should be given a chance to learn about the pregnancy and have a say in whether a woman keep the pregnancy.
She then proceeded to suggest women need a “cooling off period” before making decisions. Senator Chase, we’d like you to have a cooling off period before voting on these bills that affect the lives of real women.
