Progress Virginia’s Endorsed Candidates Win Primary Elections

Virginia—Lashrecse Aird and Rae Cousins, the two candidates Progress Virginia endorsed in the primary elections this year, have both won their races. These women are unafraid to stand up for progressive values, including abortion access, fully funding our public schools, fighting climate change, and much more, and the community saw that and rallied behind them.

“We’re thrilled that Lashrecse Aird and Rae Cousins won their nominating contests and will go on to campaign in the general election. These champions for working families have what it takes to win in November,” LaTwyla Mathias, Executive Director of Progress Virginia, said. “We’ll keep fighting to ensure they are in Richmond in January, voting to support the issues people in our community care about like abortion access, criminal justice reform, gun violence prevention, health care access, and support for our public schools.”

Laschrecse Aird is a former delegate running for State Senate in Senate District 13.
