Virginia Pro-Choice Coalition: “Anti-reproductive health politicians in Virginia are pulling out all the stops to paint a false, medically inaccurate picture of reproductive health.”

**Coalition: “Let’s be clear: Virginians support access to safe and legal abortion” **

RICHMOND, VIRGINIA [02/04/19]—The following statement is being released by the Virginia Pro-Choice Coalition: NLIRH Virginia Latina Advocacy Network, Planned Parenthood Advocates of Virginia, Progress Virginia, NARAL Pro-Choice Virginia, and Whole Woman’s Health Alliance.

“A majority of people in the United States support access to safe and legal abortion,” said the coalition. “But right now, Roe v. Wade is facing perhaps its biggest threat in decades. That’s why state lawmakers across the country, including in Virginia, have stepped up to protect reproductive freedom.

“Unfortunately, in pushing their extreme agenda to ban access to safe and legal abortion, anti-reproductive health politicians in Virginia are pulling out all the stops to paint a false, medically inaccurate picture of reproductive health. The series of attacks we’ve seen over the past week aren’t just misleading—they are part of a calculated smoke and mirrors campaign meant to limit a person’s ability to make informed decisions about their reproductive health care. And they do not accurately reflect the values that Virginians share.

“Let’s be clear: Virginians support access to safe and legal abortion*, and we trust people to make decisions about whether and when to become parents.”
