Project Manager Job Description

Location: Richmond, VA

Classification: Contract, beginning immediately through May 15, 2020

Salary: $4,000/month

About Progress Virginia

Progress Virginia is a multi-issue progressive advocacy organization that combines cutting edge online organizing and communications with rapid and hard-hitting earned media strategies. As Virginia’s leading progressive communications shop, we work all year round to engage citizens from across the Commonwealth around issues of immediate state or local concern. Our mission is to provide a strong, credible voice in advancing progressive solutions to critical community problems. But we don’t do that on our own–work as a communications team for the entire progressive community and work closely with our partners to spread our message and work towards progressive victories.

In 2017, Progress Virginia launched Eyes on Richmond, an award-winning legislative tracking program that provides live video access to Virginia General Assembly hearings. We are currently seeking a hyper-organized and detail-focused project manager to run the program and oversee fellows through the 2019 legislative session. The project manager will be onsite at the General Assembly daily beginning January 8th through adjournment in March. The project manager may be required to work long hours. Committee hearings routinely begin at 7 am and run into the evening.

The Project Manager will also take temporary responsibility for supporting Progress Virginia’s digital department, including drafting emails and content, monitoring social media, and working in the organization’s CRM.
